Classic UK Minitrix Models - Key Parts Brushes
Brushes for the motors in the 9F, 2MT and 2F locos are
no longer supplied by Marklin. However, this should not present too much of a problem.
The original Trix pack contains two carbon brushes and two springs - the
ones shown with the ruler for scale have been taken from a previously
unopened Trix pack numbered 40-0159-00 - the kind used in the 9F locos
and in all 3 Ivatt locos.
Any carbon brush can be easily cut with a craft knife and shaped with a file and emery cloth. The springs are about the same diameter as the spring in n-gauge couplings, which can be obtained from Graham Farish. (part 379-405) The photo below should give you the information that you need to make your own. The brushes are approx 2mm cubes. The original Trix springs are approx 2mm in diameter and 5.5mm long.
