The Queen Mother was introduced a year or so after The County of Norfolk. The chassis is identical and the body is very similar. I don't the precise year but it seems likely to me to have the new model available in time for Christmas 1982. The the full size Class 47 was named 'The Queen Mother' and unveiled by the Queen Mother herself in October 1982. A date which will have been planned well in advance. With relatively little work to do, it may have been possible to have the new model released in time.

One day when I find the 1983 and 84 catalogues, we will know for certain !
